Reviews

What Reviewers Are Saying About Design in Wood

Sketching

‘The author continues to involve sketching in each chapter which I would always welcome.’

‘Students often say they don’t know how to sketch but setting it out step by step is a great idea. This allows students who find sketching hard to try and hone this skill by practicing it.’

Integrating Sustainability

‘I like this idea. I do a similar exercise with students when trying to choose wood for projects. Students must consider locally sourced or imported woods and the consequences of each.’

‘Great link to sustainability. Placing importance on being able to use the hand tools is as important as using the machines.’ (on a note about the importance of hand tools in a chapter on power tools)

Design Thinking chapters

‘Overall I was very impressed and would like to think I could be using this approach in future.’

CBAs

‘As a teacher the introduction of CBAs was daunting but I think the author has really helped to break down what is being asked for and provided a clear structure for the assessment. I really like the format of the chapter and well done.’
